Our local Catholic Church, Saint Patrick's, has a memorial to the Mother Mary. The landscaping was in desperate need of work. As part of the plan for the yearly lawn maintenance of the church we also are maintaining the flower beds and landscaping. Too make the task much simpler in the long run and beautify the church grounds, a much needed overhaul of this landscaping was necessary.
In this first picture you can see the overgrown weeds and unkempt appearance.
Then I removed the vegitation, cultivated the soil, regraded the soil to create propper drainage, and installed Bend-a-Board edging.
Then I installed weed control barrier fabric with long lasting general purpose plant food and weed control pre-emergent granules underneath. This will provide long term nutrition for the existing plants and help give more control to nuisance weeds. I am not a fan of fabric weed control barriers in most circumstances however I am looking for the easiest long term maintenance plans possible.
The completed project. Additionally installed miniature roses along the back and right side of the landacaping. These were donated impromptu by a kind Vietnamese lady who walked up to check on the landacaping work at her church.
